WYOMING TELEMEDICINE LAW

Like many other states, Wyoming is getting closer every day to better coverage for telemedicine.Without a telemedicine parity law in place, there’s no guarantee that private payers will receive reimbursement for telemedicine services, which isn’t great news. Additionally, Wyoming’s Medicaid program doesn’t cover store-and-forward or home monitoring services, which freezes out a big population of patients.

On the bright side, Wyoming has adopted legislation to join the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact! This will help Wyoming become more accessible for out-of-state telemedicine practitioners. Additionally, the state has loose restrictions on provider and patient locations, which opens up telemedicine to a wider population of Wyoming residents.

Parity Law

Since Wyoming has no parity law, there is no guarantee that private payers will cover telemedicine services.

Type of Telemedicine Covered

Wyoming Medicaid states that reimbursement is made for exams performed via a real-time interactive audio and video, but no other types of telehealth.

Covered Health Services

Along with primary care services, Wyoming’s Medicaid program also covers services provided by substance abuse and addiction specialists, as well as nutrition patient education and speech therapy.
